Tim Walker

I remember coming across this image and using it in my sketchbook when I was at university. At the time I had no idea who the photographer was but I knew one thing- I was in love with it. I love the idea of the unexpected, and the mix of the subtle colours with the subject matter is completely genius.

When I first laid eyes on this image from a shoot in Vogue UK, I instantly recognised the same humour and distinct style from the horse photo- it was that of London based photographer, Tim Walker.

The sheer detail and effort that goes into every shoot is evident, no shortcuts are taken in producing these mesmerising images. His imagery evokes an element of surprise, and wonder, which has you unable to remove your eyes from the page.

It comes as no surprise that on the run up to his retrospective in 2009 at New York's prestigious Museum of Modern Art, that he was the first choice to do a Hallowe'en inspired shoot in collaboration with Tim Burton for Harpers Bazaar.

Having these two visionaries work together was the best idea, and as you can see from the outcome, completely inspiring. I especially love the union of Lydia Deetz and Edward Scissorhands. Amazing!
