BATTLES

Last night I went to see the return of New York's finest BATTLES to the UK at the Arches in Glasgow. I first saw the band live in Edinburgh in 2007 and they completely blew my mind, so I was hoping for a rerun last night. Although I must admit I was a little sceptical to see the band for the first time since the foursome became three, with the departure of Tyondai Braxton last year.

The bands new album Gloss Drop was just released this week in the UK so I only managed to have a few listens before the show. Tracks like Inchworm and Wall Street immediately stood out and the live show was just as entertaining as ever- however I must say I was a little disappointed that they didn't play any songs from Mirrored. I was sure when they came on for an encore that our ear drums would be satisfied with a rendition of their biggest hit to date Atlas, but no such luck.

All in all it was a great show and I think the band is going to continue to surprise us. I'll leave you with this video for Ice Cream which is definitely a feel good song for summer. ENJOY
